I’m guessing that getting the rest you need is probably pretty low on your priority list. But when you trade rest for getting things done you’re guaranteed to continue feeling crappy.
You have a hundred other things that you need to be doing, a million other demands on your time. How can you possibly take more than the minimum required time out of the measly 24 hours we’re given to rest? And what’s the point in resting when you still feel awful after?
But when you trade rest for getting other things done, what you’re doing is choosing chronic stress over rest. And chronic stress will continue making you feel crappy. So let’s talk about why you’re feeling that way, how that chronic stress makes it nearly impossible to live a healthy, happy life and how powerful getting the rest you need can actually be for your health.

Agreed! Rest is so very important, especially for those of us with chronic illnesses. It’s so critical to listen to your body instead of thinking, “But I slept 9 hours – I should feel good today!” Our needs vary from one day to the next.
