We hear the buzzword “Self-Care” all the time nowadays. For some people it means winding down with a glass of wine and a bubble bath. For others, it’s getting a couple minutes to shower before the kids start crying (again). Today I’m sharing five resources for self-care that have resonated with me. Whatever self-care means to you, I hope you get a little inspiration from these resources. And most importantly, you remember to love yourself and give yourself some grace as you move through each day.

Self-Care is an Act of Survival
I love this article because it takes the guilt out of practicing self-care by reframing what self-care is. “Self-care includes taking care of ourselves in a manner that focuses on prioritizing all aspects of our health, things that help us actually survive in the world. This could include eating in a way that nourishes our bodies, making time for regular movement and exercise, getting yearly mammograms and checkups, and managing our daily stress. There is no guilt in ensuring that we not only survive, but thrive.” This builds on what I talked about in How to Self-Care When You Have No Time.
Rewiring Our Brains for Gratitude
This Simple Families podcast episode is an interview with Josie Robinson, author of The Gratitude Jar. Denaye and Josie talk about how you can invite gratitude into your life and what a dramatic change this simple mindset shift can have.
For Me
I could get lost on this blog because everything Erin writes is beautiful and thought-inspiring. She’s the author of Chasing Slow and her words certainly invite you to slow down and linger. In this particular article, she shows you how to strike a balance between caring for your family and doing things for yourself guilt-free.
The Mental Unload
One of the best resources for self-care I’ve ever found! This is a 30-day course designed to help you identify everything that’s bogging your brain down and then refuel and energize your brain with the good stuff. I did this last year and it was so helpful! It’s definitely something you’ll want to come back to periodically but it is so worth it. Denaye usually hosts this amazing course twice per year so be on the lookout!
The Value of Just Staying Home
While this podcast episode is for parents of small kids, anyone can take some gold nuggets away from it. It challenges the trend of having every minute of your day (and your child’s) scheduled out with activities and events and discusses the benefits you (and your child) can experience from just staying home. Because sometimes it’s nice to hear from the experts that it’s ok to have a slow day at home.

Great resources. I think I’ll click through and get lost enjoying them. Especially the first…self-care as an act of survival.
Going to enjoy these.
Thank you. ‘
